Converting an Image to Vector Art

Vector art is a type of image file created using vector illustration software such as Adobe Illustrator. This type of software uses mathematic equations and geometric primitives (shapes, lines and points) to make smooth images that can be scaled up or down without losing quality to pixilation like with the other type of image file called a raster graphic. When using a CNC router you need vector art so that the programs in your machine will have a perfectly clear image to work with. To tell whether or not you have a vector art file start by seeing what type of file your image is. Certain file extensions are very common, especially those used by Adobe Illustrator since that is one of the most common programs for creating vector art images. The four most common vector art file extensions are .ai, .pdf, .eps and .svg. A file saved to one of these formats is not always vector art, even though the extensions are a good indicator. You cannot open a raster file in a software program that creates vector art and resave it as a vector image. It will still act like a raster file with pixilation occurring when you change the image’s size. Only files created in a vector art program are true vector art images. It is possible to use the image trace feature in Adobe Illustrator to make a raster graphic into a vector art graphic. You might also find that other vector illustration software is capable of something similar but it will depend on what software you are using. With a little Internet searching you can try to find a tutorial on how your program can do this, if it can do it at all. To be absolutely certain that your image is a vector art file the easiest thing to do is to open the file in a vector editing program. If you see a series of lines with nodes in the image those are the vector editing nodes and that means your file is vector art. If you do not have vector editing software it may be worth it to find someone who does and get their help checking your images.

photo carving with Badog and Vectrix 3d

Hello to all, I just wanted to share a couple of examples shared from one of our clients using vectrix software and his Badog X2 machine. the carving was done in 2 levels 1 pass of rough with a tool of 3mm and one passd with a finer ball nosed tool with a diameter of 3mm. although the project did take quite a long time to complete (about 20-30 minutes), the end surface yielded an almost flawless curve. thanks for sending us the pictures and feel free if anyone has some more examples to send them to us or just upload them to facebook and we will tag them for you

It has been a heck of a ride for us since we opened our doors 6 years ago but we still continue with our guaranty of quality and unparalleled after sales support and service. What once seemed impossible has become our particular speciality in turning the market of high quality router into an everyday too for customers who have usually had no experience before with CNC machines. Nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir cette année à l’expo FAMA de Bulle. Nous avons HALTED (augmenter notre production)en incorporant une CNC fraiseuse flash mob pour montrer notre ligne et représenter la philosophie de nos produits. Nous avons invité tous nos étudiants pour nous aider.

L’historique du nouvel écrou anti-jeu et bloc Badog

Depuis 2009, nous avons introduit et utilisons l’écrou anti-jeu et roulements à billes comme options sur plusieurs de nos produits afin d’éliminer les vis à billes et entraînement par courroie sur nos machines BADOG X. Depuis le début, nous sommes conscients que la vis trapézoïdale n’est pas idéale pour assurer une précision de mouvement de la machine Badog. Au courant de ces dernières années nous avons testé plusieurs systèmes mais chaque système d’entraînement amenait une défaillance de précision à la machine. Deux possibilités de roulement à bille et de courroie ont été rapidement inutilisables si nous souhaitions assurer une machine rigide sans jeu et préserver les finances de nos clients durant le processus. Nous devions alors trouver une solution fiable et sûre.

Les études ont été coûteuses et peu concluantes. Par exemple, nous avions acheté des vis à billes en Chine et en CH pour les comparer et avons observé une grande différence. Les vis à billes de qualité suisse étaient nettement supérieures et livrées beaucoup plus rapidement mais leur prix était également beaucoup trop élevé pour être absorbé dans le coût de la machine. Ceci représente la différence entre qualité et quantité. Si nous souhaitions obtenir une machine en aluminium de précision coûtant moins de 6000.- nous devrions alors éliminer les roulements à billes et trouvé une nouvelle idée. En bref, une machine hobby avec roulement à billes muni d’un axe de qualité Suisse de 1400.- coûterait 2 fois plus.

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog today we will be dealing with the import of DXF files. Simply put we are getting more and more demands on our importation and treatment of dxf file formats into our machine Software interface in Badog CAD. This blog entry is designed to clarify little problems that most of our customers are having with the importation of these file formats. Firstly the program Badog CAD cannot import DWG files; you must change these formats into DXF information so that we can get rid of the AutoCAD headers and unimportant information that could cause problems when using your CNC. So save your Dxf that you have made into AutoCAD’s DXF format.

Mach3 is powerful software but it is not without its problems. Here is a case where the settings of the mach3 panel didn’t want to cooperate with the physical settings of the machine. Occasionally there could be some unforeseen problems that we have never seen before like the Mach3 calibration that doesn’t match the physical dimensions of the screw. When this happens we will have to calibrate the axes correctly but manually to eliminate conversion or hardware errors.

Firstly, a little misconception

There is much misconception concerning micro stepping and CNC circuits. The goal of this blog entry is to clear up the misconceptions and show how to properly set up the microstepping settings on your control card.

For a couple of years now, I have been asked over and over how to definitively set up the micro stepping settings on our control card so in launching this blog, I hope to address this question as well as other repeated Badog CNC questions. Obviously these steps should only be followed by CNC professionals or someone who knows what they are doing in the electronics department.

Setting up your software for the microstepping modes

Once your card has been configured for the microstepping settings , we need to calibrate the machine with the software. So, how do I apply this in the real world? well it is quite simple and only takes a couple of minutes.
